For individuals living with mental health conditions

Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP)

WRAP is a practical, evidence-based program that helps participants create a personalized plan for maintaining wellness and navigating difficult moments. Participants develop tools to support daily wellness, recognize early warning signs, and take steps to stay well.

WRAP is offered in multiple formats, including WRAP On the Go, a shorter and more accessible introduction to the WRAP framework.

For workplaces and organizations

Fundamentals of Workplace Wellness

This course introduces key concepts of mental health, wellness, and self-care in the workplace. Participants learn practical strategies to support their own well-being and help foster a healthier workplace culture. The training explores how organizations can create supportive environments and promote mental health across teams.

Crisis Intervention and De-Escalation

This course equips participants with tools to recognize and respond to individuals experiencing crisis with empathy and confidence. Using practical communication strategies and the LEAP Method (Listen, Empathize, Agree, Partner), participants learn skills in de-escalation, co-regulation, and connecting people to appropriate support.

Resilience Building

This course explores how resilience develops through challenge and adaptation. Participants reflect on their responses to stress and learn practical strategies to strengthen coping skills, maintain balance, and support well-being in both personal and professional settings.

For faith communities

Bridges of Hope

Designed for faith-based communities, this training helps participants recognize early warning signs of mental health conditions and learn ways to support members of their congregation.

Participants also explore how faith communities can create welcoming spaces for conversations about mental health.

Training length: 50 minutes.

For youth and schools

Ending the Silence

Ending the Silence is designed for middle and high school students. This interactive presentation helps students recognize warning signs of mental health conditions and learn what steps to take if they or a friend need help.

Participants leave with a better understanding of mental health and where to seek support.

Training length: 50 minutes.

Community education and awareness

Exposure to Trauma & Building Resilience

This training explores the impact of trauma and provides practical strategies for supporting resilience and mental wellness in individuals and communities.

Training length: 50 minutes.

Mental Health Awareness

An introductory session about mental health and the resources available through NAMI Chicago. Participants learn foundational concepts about mental wellness and how to support themselves and others.

Training length: 50 minutes.

Advocacy

NAMI Smarts

An interactive workshop that helps participants turn their lived experience with mental health into a powerful advocacy story. Participants learn how to communicate effectively with policymakers, community leaders, and decision-makers. The workshop focuses on the core skill of telling your story to support policy change and community action.

Training length: 90 minutes.

Law Enforcement and Crisis Response

Crisis Intervention Team Training

NAMI Chicago partners with the Chicago Police Department to support Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training, which prepares officers to respond to mental health crises with de-escalation techniques and connection to care.

CIT-trained officers complete a 40-hour certification program focused on understanding mental health conditions, reducing stigma, and safely responding to people experiencing crisis.
